The Borromean Islands: Flower bouquets surrounded by waters

Price per person from € 49,00

Group price valid from 20 participants.

The Borromean Islands and San Giulio Island are true blooming treasures located on the waters of Lake Maggiore and Lake Orta. While on Isola dei Pescatori you can still find remains of the simple fishermen life, the near Isola Bella serves to document the magnificence and the wealth of the Borromeo family. Isola Bella, harmoniously immersed into the surrounding landscape, has the shape of a large boat clearly visible from the lake. Legend says that the island on the Lake Orta was the home of dragons causing fear and destruction, until San Giulio, the Saint dispelling waves, thunderstorms, wild animals and men, landed here. San Giulio spread his cloak over the lake’s water as if it was a boat and using his stick as a oar reached the island without getting wet. When he looked at the island, the dragon disappeared. Tired and close to death, San Giulio chose this place as his home and built his hundredth last church. For this very reason the island is still considered a mystic place, inviting visitors to take a stroll in quietness and meditation.
