Saluzzo between history and legend

Saluzzo is nicknamed “Siena of Piedmont” because of its Middle Age look. We will visit a true treasury of art works and will be in awe of the rich history and traditions of the town. A stroll under the arcades of the old town takes us to wonderful small squares surrounded by noble palaces with loggia decorated with terracotta. We go up and down the narrow streets until we reach the top of the town, where the majestic castle reminds us that we are guests in the beautiful land of the ancient powerful Duke of Saluzzo. This hilly region between Mount Monviso and the plain has been for many centuries a controversial border area between France and the Savoy family. In the afternoon you can join a visit to the Cistercians abbey of S. Maria di Staffarda of the 12th century.
