A tour to discover the three main Papal Basilicas. We first visit Santa Maria Maggiore. Dating back to the 5th century this church is famous for its wonderful mosaics and to be the place where Bernini sculptor was buried. The second stop of our tour is San Giovanni in Laterano. In the omonymous square you can see Rome’s highest obelisk. San Giovanni in Laterano is the cathedral church of the Pope. Next to it you can find the Lateran Palace, which used to be the papal residence. A small building houses the Scala Santa and the pope’s private chapel Sancta Sanctorum. The visit ends with the second biggest church in Rome, the famous San Paolo fuori le Mura. Inside the basilica you can admire portraits af all 266 Popes starting from the first St. Peter to the last Pope Francis.
