Milan is evolving. It changes every season but still preserves that “Lady of the North” charm that has confirmed it as capital of northern Italy for a millennium and, in recent years, as Europe’s second most loved destination. In recent years Milan can be visited looking up at the skyscrapers designing its new skyline, in the Porta Nuova district. If vertigo makes that a problem, you can take a tour looking downwards to learn about mysterious Milan hidden under its hectic streets.

Day 1 Arrival at Malpensa, welcome and transfer to Hotel, free for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2 After breakfast meet guide to discover the city’s main attractions, including the Duomo, one of the main international Gothic cathedrals, the Sforzesco Castle, home to the historic Milanese families, the Sforzas and the Viscontis, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, and the world’s most famous theatre, the Scala, with its splendid square overlooked by important buildings. Free time for a lunch break and then on to one of the most mysterious, fascinating tours in the afternoon. No-one can truly imagine the hidden city under our feet. Walking through the remains of ancient Roman roads underground, you discover archaeological Milan rich in stories and treasures with roots buried in the past, right back to the first foundation stone laid. Return to Hotel and overnight stay.

Day 3 After breakfast, meeting with the guide. After collecting bikes, you will leave to discover the New Milan. Skyscrapers have been going up for some years now giving the city a new skyline; with the Duomo, always the undisputed giant of its panorama, reduced to a small church hemmed in by the glass surfaces of new buildings. Through art, history, town planning and architecture, the two-wheeled guided tour will lead us to Milan’s proud new district. Where from the old “vecchio” Pirelli to the new Pelli skyscraper, from the square piazza Gae Aulenti to the Vertical Wood records abound: from the most innovative skyscraper, to the one experimenting with new building types and then, best of all, proves to be “self-sufficient”, in a challenge between world famous architects. Afternoon free. Return to hotel and overnight stay.

Day 4 Departure.

By Air: The group arrives by air and services usually start at the arrival at the airport. Included ground services like local coach or assistance at the airport will be specified in the section “Description – Tour Includes”
