In search of the famous truffle of Alba

The truffle comes from a mycelium: since it does not have any chlorophyll to build organic substances,the truffle has to feed on other living organisms like a parasite.

There are several types of truffle, the most famous of which, together with the Perigord, is the white truffle from Alba; its colour varies from pure white to grey with red and brown nuances depending on soil conditions and vegetation.

The ideal environment for the white truffle of Alba is oak wood, wild poplars and calcareous soil. During a short but very interesting tour you will see how the famous “trifulau” together with his faithful dog brings to light this treasure of nature.
