Civitella del Tronto, overlooks one of the largest fortresses in Europe, in a unique location with a magnificent view. It was built by Charles V on top of an existing building and was the last bulwark of the Bourbon resistance against the Savoy house. The village was built around the hill at the foot of the fortress and the buildings from the seventeenth century are still well preserved.
