A world in itself that has kept its superb unspoiled beauty thanks to its wild nature. The beauty of the Cinque Terre lies in a canvas of contrasts, from the sea to the steep rugged cliffs, from the stony land to the green vineyards from which a famous wine is obtained.
Monterosso is the westernmost of the Cinque Terre: we visit the historic centre with the Cappuccini Abbey and the 14th century Church of San Giovanni. Later we take the train to Vernazza, a small village perched on the cliffs with houses gathered around the church, we pass Corniglia and reach the picturesque village Riomaggiore. There is a very beautiful high winding footpath along the coast called The Lovers’ Pathway, “La Via dell’Amore”, which starts in Riomaggiore and leads to Manarola.
