Asti and wine tasting in Monferrato

Asti, a town of art dedicated to wine production, is well worth a visit to discover its numerous medieval palaces and the historic centre. Asti plays host to an array of magnificent religious buildings, such as the Cathedral offering a fine example of Gothic church in this area. The local folklore is rich in traditions whose roots date back to the Middle Ages and the countryside culture. In September the town hosts the renowned Palio, an exciting horse race in which different districts compete against each other. Departing from Asti we head for Monferrato, characterised by hilly landscape covered in vineyards and woods, peppered with farms and estates. Almost any hill is punctured by hilltop castles, towers and ruins. The tour includes a visit to a wine cellar with wine tasting.
