Ajaccio: The Emperor city

The city is located in the heart of the most beautiful gulf worldwide. Behind it you can see snow-covered mountains until spring. Near the old harbour the vivacious markets and the small old town streets with their noble residential buildings are situated. Towards north the street takes you along the coast to the land top Parata, which is protected by a Genoese Tower: from there you can admire the Iles Sanguinaires. Everywhere in Ajaccio street names, statues and monuments recall Napoleone Bonaparte, who was born on 15th August 1769 in a house in Rue Saint Charles.
