Day 1 Arrival in Parghelia-Tropea area and accommodation in hotel for 5 nights half-board.

Day 2 After breakfast, departure for a full day trip to Reggio Calabria and a visit to the Magna Grecia Museum, which houses the precious Riace Bronzes. This is followed by a visit to Scilla with the castle of Ruffo di Calabria and the distinctive coastal village. Before returning to the hotel for dinner, we finish the trip with a visit to the hamlet of Sant’Elia, the location of a Greek Orthodox monastery.

Day 3 After breakfast, a visit to Tropea, an ancient city that rises up from tufa rock, famous for its medieval appearance and the panoramic view that can be enjoyed from its balconies. In the afternoon, we continue to Capo Vaticano. Historically, the Capo was a sacred site known throughout Ancient Greece, as priests and soothsayers looked into the future from here. Return to hotel for dinner.

Day 4 After breakfast, departure for Locri, one of the first Greek colonies, dated back to 673 BC. After lunch, a visit to Gerace, a beautiful and untouched medieval town. Walking through its alleyways, between the palazzos of the historic centre, you can still breathe in the atmosphere of the medieval suburbs. Visit to the Cathedral, supported by columns from the temples of Locri Epizefiri. Return to hotel for dinner.

Day 5 Free day. Or, an optional excursion to the Eolian Islands (UNESCO World Heritage site): departure in the morning by motorboat to the island of Vulcan. Arrival at around 10.15 a.m., stopping for a dip in the sea and the sulphurous spots. Departure immediately afterwards for Lipari, the main island in the Eolian group. Visit to the Eolian Museum and the charming town, with its little white houses and the main square where you can taste the typical Sicilian granita. Departure immediately afterwards for Stromboli, and a boat ride around the island to see the famous “sciara di fuoco”. Return departure immediately afterwards. Expected arrival in the evening. Farewell dinner in the hotel, with typical Calabrian specialities.

Day 6  After breakfast, final snapshots of Calabria and departure for return journey.

Day 7  Breakfast and transfer to Rome Fiumicino Airport.
