Day 1 Arrival, welcome drink, and check-in for 5 nights HB.
Day 2 Breakfast at the hotel and then departure for Sulmona, rich of outstanding works of art, city of the poet Ovid. The town is known for its sweets, the famous “confetti”, so don’t miss out on a tasting at a confectionery. Continue to Anversa degli Abruzzi on a road that crosses the impressive “Gole del Sagittario” (the archer’s ravine). Arrival in Scanno, known for its crafts and the ancient traditions of its inhabitants.
Day 3 Breakfast at the hotel and departure for Lanciano, one of the most beautiful art cities of the region, famous for its markets, that attracts traders from all over the Mediterranean. Light meal on a trabocco (an ald fishing machine). In the afternoon, tour of the abbey San Giovanni in Venere, which stands on the foundations of a pagan temple dedicated to the goddess of love. Return towards the southern coast of the Abruzzo region along a unique section of the coast called Costa dei Trabocchi.
Day 4 Breakfast at the hotel and drive to the Gran Sasso National Park. Drive over the Campo Imperatore, a broad plateau famous for its appearance in Westerns by Sergio Leone and the many films made here with Bud Spencer and Terence Hill. Picnic in Campo Imperatore at the old Western saloon with “arrosticini.” Drive to L’Aquila and tour of the city, which for a long time was the capital of the Abruzzo region and the site of important historical events.
Day 5 After breakfast, drive and tour of Civitella del Tronto, overlooked by one of the largest fortresses in Europe in a unique location with a breathtaking view. In the afternoon, continue along the nature reserve of the Calanchi to Atri, one of the most important towns of the Abruzzo Renaissance on the coast.
Day 6 Breakfast at the hotel and departure for home.
